Agility Robotics has picked Nyobolt's fast-charging battery technology for Digit 5, its next warehouse and factory humanoid. Interesting Engineering reported the deal on October 17, 2026, following the companies' announcement earlier in the week.
The goal is to keep the robot working for more of the day. Agility says a nine-minute charge should give about 90 minutes of work, a run-to-charge ratio of 10 to 1, compared with 2 to 1 on Digit 4. That would let Digit 5 do more than 20 hours of useful work in a 24-hour day, or more than two full shifts. Agility's chief business officer said uptime is the business case for customers. Nyobolt says its pack fits more power into a smaller, lighter battery that can handle tough industrial sites. The figures are targets from the companies, and the announcement gives no battery capacity or cycle-life numbers.
Early access to Digit 5 robots with the new battery is expected in the first half of 2027 for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution customers, with wider availability over the following six to nine months. Separately, Agility plans to list on Nasdaq through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, which it expects to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Why it matters
Charging downtime is one of the main costs of running robot fleets, so faster charging can decide whether a humanoid deployment pays off.
