Faraday Future, best known for electric cars, and its sister company FF EAI Robotics Ecosystem (FFR) have launched two small humanoid robots, The Next Web reported on October 16, 2026. The FF Nova costs $2,490 and is aimed at developers, universities and schools, while the FF Nova Mini costs $299 and is meant for children aged eight and up.
The companies call Nova the first embodied AI humanoid sold in the US for under $2,500, a claim TNW has not checked. Nova stands about 50 cm tall, weighs 2.8 kg and has 20 moving joints. It can walk, wave, get back up after being knocked over, and ride on a detachable wheeled base. It supports ROS 2, a developer software pack costs $390 more, and a training programme uses Nvidia's Isaac platform to teach skills in simulation first. The first 100 units are invitation only, with 20 ready to ship, and no dates were given for wider sales.
Nova Mini weighs under 1 kg, can walk, stand up and roll, and is programmed with blocks. The launch comes days after FFR agreed to buy Faraday Future's robotics business in an all-stock deal valued at about $200 million, expected to close by the end of October.
Why it matters
Cheap humanoid kits that run ROS 2 put real robot hardware within reach of students and small teams learning robotics and embodied AI.
