World announced World ID for banking and finance on October 18, 2026, with co-founder Alex Blania unveiling it on stage at Money20/20 in Las Vegas, according to the company's blog. The suite is meant to help financial firms confirm that real people are behind transactions, trades, account requests and video calls, including when AI agents are involved. Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital and VanEck Funds are named as initial design partners.

It has three parts. The World ID app offers a Proof of Human from a one-time Orb visit, a Proof of Presence liveness check by phone, and a Proof of Attributes that confirms details such as age or nationality from a government ID while revealing only what is asked. World ID for Agents, built on the beta AgentKit tools, lets a person delegate proofs to an agent so it can show it acts for a real human. World ID for Zoom adds a visible Human Badge for verified people in meetings.

World pitches this against deepfake fraud, citing the case of an Arup employee who wired about $25.6 million after a fake video call, and a Deloitte forecast that AI-enabled fraud losses in the US could reach $40 billion by 2027. It says more than 18 million people hold a Proof of Human.

Why it matters

As AI agents start moving money, banks need ways to tell humans, bots and deepfakes apart, and identity checks for agents are turning into a product category.
