Chinese robotics firm AgiBot set a Guinness World Records title for the most humanoid robots dancing simultaneously, with 110 of its Expedition A3 robots performing synchronized routines and formation changes in Jinan, Shandong Province, on October 24. The robots used AgiBot's LinkBots cluster-control platform together with ultra-wideband positioning technology that the company says enables centimeter-level accuracy, and the display included repositioning, jumping, flips and formation changes.

AgiBot said the robots will next be deployed in cultural and tourism performances, public services, scientific research and education. The event is part of a broader Chinese push toward large-scale humanoid robot deployment: an official at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said earlier in October that Chinese companies had developed more than 400 humanoid robot models and produced more than 40,000 units in the first half of 2026, with annual production expected to exceed 100,000 units.

An associate research fellow at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences told Global Times that coordinating large numbers of robots and sharing their operational experience could help lower per-unit operating costs, but that reliability, adaptability and cost-effectiveness remain major challenges for wider adoption, since lighting changes, uneven ground and small errors can still accumulate during long tasks.

Why it matters

The event doubles as a public demonstration of the multi-robot coordination technology China is betting on to move humanoids from demos to real deployment.
