Thariq Shihipar announced on X that he has left Anthropic after more than a year working on Claude Code, saying he watched it scale far larger than he had imagined. He wrote that he loved working at Anthropic and believes deeply in its mission, describing it as a race to the top where working hard and responsibly can raise the bar and inspire better outcomes industry-wide.
He praised his former colleagues as the most talented, thoughtful, competent and earnest people he has met, and said he trusts them to keep steering the company. He thanked the community on X for making the job, in his words, the most fun and sometimes stressful one he's had.
Shihipar said he plans to take a break before starting something new. He recommended following several people for more Claude Code content: Addy Osmani, Lydia Hallie, Cat Wu, the ClaudeDevs account, and Boris Cherny, who he credits with starting Claude Code.
