GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics have expanded their partnership, announcing that Agility's Digit humanoid robots will be deployed to two additional GXO sites, in Statesville, North Carolina and Lebanon, Tennessee. This builds on a 2024 multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement that first put Digit to work in a live GXO warehouse in Flowery Branch, Georgia, described as the industry's first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots and the first Robots-as-a-Service deal for humanoids.

At Flowery Branch, Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes, working alongside existing automation by placing totes onto conveyors. GXO and Agility started with a proof-of-concept pilot there in late 2023 before signing the formal multi-year agreement in June 2024, which also included Agility Arc, the cloud platform Agility uses to manage robot fleets.

Under the new agreement, Digit will handle repetitive material-handling tasks supporting e-commerce fulfillment at the two new sites, with deployments expected to start in early 2027 using the current Digit 4 robot before migrating to Digit 5 once that version becomes commercially available. Digit 5 was unveiled on September 15, 2026, and is designed to work safely close to people. Across all deployments, Digit has logged more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation. Agility is separately preparing to go public through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, and would trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.

Why it matters

It's a real-world signal that warehouse humanoid robots are moving from pilot sites to multi-site commercial scale.
