Apple's 27.2 software updates, released today, expand Siri AI, its reworked version of Siri, to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, on top of English. Apple says Siri AI is a reimagined assistant built on Apple Intelligence that draws on personal context to help users find things across their messages, emails, and photos, take systemwide app actions like drafting an email or editing and sharing photos, and understand what's on a user's screen to answer questions or take actions tied to it.
Apple says support for Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese is coming by the end of the year. Siri AI is available in beta in iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2, and requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to one of the supported languages.
Apple noted that Siri AI remains unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, and that it is working with the EU to find a path forward. It is also not available to users under 13. Some Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, are subject to daily usage limits that vary by feature and system demand, and Apple says expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future.
Why it matters
Wider language support brings Apple's AI assistant closer to parity with rivals for hundreds of millions of non-English-speaking iPhone users.
