Apple is adjusting the Taiwan storefront of the App Store on iOS and iPadOS following discussions with the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission. As of October 31, 2026, the commission rate, meaning the cut Apple takes from a transaction, for standard in-app purchases and paid app transactions on the Taiwan storefront drops from 30% to 26%.
Developers do not need to sign the updated terms by October 31 to receive the lower rate starting that date. Apple has revised its Developer Program License Agreement, the contract developers accept to distribute apps on the App Store, to support the updated policies, and developers can sign in to their accounts to accept the new terms. A Traditional Chinese translation of the announcement is already available, and translations of the updated agreement itself will be available on the Apple Developer website within one month.
Why it matters
A regulator-driven commission cut in Taiwan adds to the pattern of App Store fees coming under pressure market by market worldwide.
