DeepSeek has published dsh-superagent-prototype on GitHub under the MIT license, a proactive coding agent built for a single GitHub repository. The repo was created on October 31, 2026, and had gathered about 5,500 stars within a day.

The tool listens to GitHub and, optionally, Feishu, and when someone with permission asks it for work, it opens a work item, works on it in its own agent session and directory, and replies in the original conversation, for example with a pull request. A web panel shows items that need a person's attention. It is packaged as a bundle for DeepSeek Harness.

DeepSeek is explicit that this is a research prototype for reference only, not an official product. The company says much of the engineering was done by coding agents, that the published version differs from its internal one, and that it may contain bugs and inconsistent coding style, so it should be reviewed and adapted before use.

Why it matters

It's a rare look at how a major AI lab structures an autonomous coding agent for real repository work, released as open source.
