GenRobot AI, a Beijing-based company that builds data infrastructure for robot development, has closed a $100 million Series A+ funding round. The round closed in the third quarter of this year and was disclosed on November 2.
Investors in the round include SAIC Motor, Malaysia's Eastworlds, Baidu, Shoucheng Holdings, and Galaxy General Robotics, along with financial investors GL Ventures, CITIC Goldstone, CCB International, and Huatai Zijin.
GenRobot AI builds equipment and software for capturing human demonstrations that can be used to train robots, with recording systems that capture visual information together with hand and body movements across household, manufacturing, and logistics tasks. Its Matrix platform then synchronizes, cleans, and labels that recorded data, giving robot developers data they can use for training and evaluation.
Why it matters
Large funding for robot-training data infrastructure shows investors betting that data quality, not just model architecture, is the bottleneck for real-world robotics.
